Innovator Founder Visa Overview
The Innovator Founder Visa replaced the former Innovator route and is designed for experienced entrepreneurs who want to set up an innovative, viable, and scalable business in the UK. It requires endorsement from an approved endorsing body and carries no minimum investment requirement.
Endorsement Requirement
The endorsement stage is central to the application. An approved endorsing body must assess and endorse the business idea as innovative, viable, and scalable. The endorsing body will assess the business plan, market research, and the applicant's background and experience. A list of approved endorsing bodies is maintained by the Home Office.
Key Requirements
- Must have an innovative, viable, and scalable business idea
- Must obtain endorsement from an approved endorsing body
- Must have sufficient personal savings to support yourself (at least ยฃ1,270 in the bank for 28 consecutive days before applying, or funds provided through the endorsing body)
- English language requirement (B2 level)
Running the Business
Visa holders must actively work to establish and develop their business in the UK. Progress is assessed at endorsement reviews (at 6 or 12-month intervals depending on the stage of the business). Britlaw Solicitors can advise on the ongoing immigration requirements and the process for extensions.
Settlement Route
After 3 years on the Innovator Founder Visa, it is possible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain, subject to meeting ongoing requirements including evidence that the business has been established and has made a demonstrable economic contribution. We advise on settlement applications through this route.
